Careers for Life - StudentsOur individual student program is designed for those in Year 10, 11 or12. Parents and students are encouraged to read on. Through discussion and completion of a range of assessments, the program empowers students to make wise and meaningful career and life choices. These include career exploration, VCE subject selection and post-secondary school options, including tertiary study. Drawing upon positive psychology, we encourage students to take the first vital steps towards living an authentic, valued and happy life. The program consists of two stages: Stage One – ConsultationTogether we talk about career and study ideas, school situation, leisure and work experiences. A series of assessments are then undertaken. We measure and incorporate factors important in career decision-making such as interests, aptitudes, strengths, personality and values. Information obtained from interest and strengths inventories, helps students identify occupations and courses. Aptitude tests provide information about the amount of work and effort required regarding particular fields of study. Stage Two – Feedback & PlanningParents are an important influence on their children’s lives, including career decisions. Therefore, involvement in this part of the journey is essential. Careers for Life offers parents insights, information and a range of strategies to better support students in developing and building their preferred career future. Information derived from assessments is interpreted and discussed with students and their parents. Results of the vocational assessment are presented as a comprehensive written report and are used in the exploration of suitable career and course options. A detailed action plan is then developed. In December each year, we offer support sessions to VCE students who require assistance reviewing VTAC preferences. Places are limited - reserve an appointment today.
